I always stone those surfaces. I don't see a big problem there and you have a wide flat sealing surface. The scoured area is on the outside edges. I generally don't put anything on the base gasket but if you want to be cautious you could put a light coat of what is recommended. I'd probably use some loctite 518 in this case.

Thanks for your input! Could you possibly send me a link to a stone you like?

The point of the stone for me is that it takes down all of the high spots and you can see where the surface is low and you can also see imperfections. Then thing to keep in mind is that the engine was likely running fine and what you are seeing has likely been there a long time. I have a few stones I have accumulated over the years so I don't have a real preference. Maint thing is they are flat and used with oil over the surface.

This is probably all you need. Spend 5 minutes, keep it moving, don't spend a lot of time in one place, etc...

Thank you so much! I'm just a 15-year-old who sometimes needs help since I haven't done this ever!

-Kind Regards,

That’s awesome.
Us old timers would love to help you get this ski going.
Thank you so much!
I currently have cylinder sleeves being installed and bored. Along with the head being cleaned up.
Man, can I tell you how hard it was to find someone to do this work it was insane!
But other than that I'm taking it to slow using the proper stuff etc.
If you want I can attach a few pics of how I got the ski engine.
