I just did a complete swap. I had a 2001 GTX DI. Body was in terrible shape. I bought it over the winter. If anyone remembers my posts this is the jet ski that had the horsepower upgrade done by Perry performance group.
Well for a while I was working on the body. Going to paint it etc..
A week ago I came across a 2003 GTX DI for $250 that the body was in mint condition. Engine was toast but it was a complete jet ski.
I decided to move the engine from the 2001 to the 2003. Since PPG also flashed the computer for the extra horse power I had to do a complete swap. All wires, electrical box, MPEM, fuel pump etc...
So I stripped everything out of the 2003 GTX except the water box and exhaust. I reinstalled everything from the 2001 GTX. The 2001 GTX always fired up with no problems.
While doing the reinstall in the 2003 GTX battery was towards the front and in the 2001 the battery was in the back. Since there was a ground cable going to the battery from wire harness I had to extend this wire so it would now reach the front.
Everything was hooked up and it was time to start it. Keep in mind I have not worked on a DI before. My past is always been the carburetor engines.
I attached the DESS and got the two beeps. No warning lights on the gauges etc... All looked good. I hit the start button the engine turns over but will not fire. While holding the start button I get a second long beep. A second of Silence then a second long beep. This continues the entire time I hold the start button down.
Obviously something is not hooked up right. Fired up fine before the swap. I checked and there is no spark. I looked online and based on the beeps and no spark it said the ski is in Drowned/ flood mode. I took out the spark plugs. Turned the engine over and nothing was coming out. I do not know if the problem could be extending the ground wire or not since this was really the only change. Any advice would be helpful as where to go from here.
Also if anyone knows. I have one small hose I do not know where it connects to. The hose is coming from the rave solenoid. I know on one side of solenoid the hose goes to the pump built into the engine. on the other side there is about two inches of hose then a T fitting where the hose splits into two. The hose attached to the T fitting is not hooked up. Does someone know where this one goes?
Wanted to add. I am not touching the throttle at all. I know all symptoms point to flood (drowned mode) but it is doing so without touching the throttle.
Here is video of trying to start the engine.
