what are peoples views on the 951 di as im getting loads of mixed signals some saying there the best and others saying stay well clear and woulded have one if it was giving to them for free are the 951 di engines that bad. even if after every ride (once a week aprrox 7 hours use) and its back home its flushed out and engine fogged to keep internals clean and lubed will i still get problems as i've just bought a 3ddi 2006 with a broken engine its away getting a full rebuild now so when i get it back i'll be the only rider so will know history and it will be flushed and fogged everytime please give me your views on this coz if its all bad i think i'll just sell on when ski is rebuilt

I have one in my Seadoo sportster! I have it atached to the other end of my anchor rope. Just kiding I would think with what you say you will do to take care of it you will be ok. Maybe with all the power that they have they are more likely to be doged hard. Keep bumping this thread tell you have a guru respond. Good luck

lol that made me laugh and what do you mean by bumping
If you do not get anyone who has rebuilt these and many other seadoo engines to respond because maybe they are out for new years or what ever reason they may have. then respond your self to your own post and just simplely type the word bump. This will bring your thread current again and maybe someone will reply :)

951 di good and bad

I did a litle search on the 951 di and I came up with this. You need to do what you said and more. This does seem to be a radical engine and special care is mandatory. You need to run at least 91 octane gas, full synthetic oil, Do not run at full throttle for very long. (you need to give pistons a chance to cool) It also needs routine fuel pressure testing done. If engine ever starts to run even a litle poor stop using ski until you figure out what is wrong as you may destroy pistons in litle time. Be sure to let the engine compartment to breath after use. (to allow drying.) Reasearch every thing you can about these engines to add more life to your ski. These engines are on the border of spark detonation, any small mishaps in fuel or cooling will toast the engine (bad piston damage.) This is what you get when you start pushing the limits of a engine to gain maximum hp. Good luck. Robin :)

I agree with Robin. I've rebuilt a few of these engines and you must strictly adhere to the rebuild directions in the manual. They are not as scary as everyone makes them appear.
