95 XP Fouling Plugs

Hi All,
I have a 95 XP with a Factory Pipe that I just recently purchased, After a bit of work I got it up and running and seems to run really well...with the exception that about every couple of hours of run time it fouls out the plugs!
We have to go through about a 5 min no wake zone and it seems to be loading up during that time.
Here's the work done so far:
Replaced gray fuel lines, cleaned out all filters, cleaned gunk out of, and rebuilt carbs, using existing jets and the same color springs, so I'm taking the previous owners word that the ski never fouled plugs when he had it, so am assuming the carbs were set up right before! ( I know...I know), I have the low and High mixture screws set to the specs at factory's website, Which are
High speed screw : 1/4 turn out from closed
Low speed screw : 1 turn out from closed
So my question is what can I safely try, to stop it from fouling these plugs out all the time? I was going to try turning in the low speed screws in a quarter turn but wanted to run it by you Guru's first, as I know that running it to lean can be really bad, but I was also informed that the leaning out the low end is not as detrimental as having it running lean on the top end...is this right? Also can anyone tell me what spark plugs are the right ones? It had NGK ME8* or something like that...is this the right one? If so can I go with a Hotter plug? If so, what number would be recommended?
Thanks in advance for any advice you all can give!
Mike

High speed screw?....

Mike, your high speed screw is suppose to be at "0". This is probably why your fouling your plugs.
I know what your thinking, if it's at "0", then how is the fuel getting getting to the engine?.....the high speed set screw is actually a bypass around the high speed jet. Your fuel should be sufficient with the proper jetting, to keep that high speed screw shut. If you've changed your exhaust or flame arrestor, then you may want to open that just a bit.
But for stock operation, this screw should be at zero. Low speed out 1 and 3/4, +/- 1/4 turn.
Your main jet (high speed) size is 137.5 and the pilot (low speed) size is 67.5. Your spark plugs are BR8ES with a gap of .020"................

Hi Snipe,
First off thanks for the quick reply....But you might want to re-read my post again, The ski Does have an after market Pipe "Factory Pipe" on it, and the specs where I have it set as stated above are from Factorys website, that is where I came to set them at :
High speed screw : 1/4 turn out from closed
Low speed screw : 1 turn out from closed
The ski has the stock flame arrester and airbox on it!
Also it seems as though I can ride all day long with no fouling problems, as long as I stay out of the NO Wake Zones... "Idle'ing" for more then a few minutes seems to be when I start loading up and having problems.
Actually, after I posted last night I did some more searching here and reading and I came upon a post of yours http://www.seadooforum.com/showthread.php?t=4151
That has pics of the different plugs and mine resembles mostly, the No. 1 plug in your pics, which says it Oil Fouled! When I pull them my Plugs are REALLY wet and Black, but they dont have that Caked on crusty black residue I have not messed with the oil injector adjustments at all, and I'm wondering if this isnt where I need to start!
What is the procedere to adjusting how much oil is added?
Here is a pic of one of the plugs just picture it really wet and thats what they look like when I pull them.

Let me know what you think...Thanks again,

More of a comment

When I ran this 1998 GS 85 hp for the first time, it was a bit lean. (So I believe the guy you bought from)

After changing the fuel hoses, and cleaning the carbs, it is now too rich at idle. You often have to hold throttle open to start it. They come from the factory a bit rich. Better to foul a plug, than pay for parts!

Also, it sputters through the no wake zones.

I would not be afraid of turning the low speed jet in a little.

I will mine, but it is a bit hard to adjust without removing the flame arrestor thing.

I have been playing with 2 stokes for yrs. Motorcycles, Chain saws, Model airplanes. I say, turn it in a little at a time, and listen to it. It will "talk" to you, and tell you when you are going lean. I could make the sound, but you could not hear it!
