Ski had been sitting for many months by previous owner outside in winter. Heres what I have done:

-rebuilt and cleaned both carbs
-cleaned fuel filter
-changed stock grey fuel lines with new black fuel line
-removed and cleaned fuel selector
-replaced fuel float with new one (missing magnets and no gauge operation) works now
-new NGK spark plugs and wires
-added see thru fuel filter before carbs
-fresh gas (4 gallons) and Stabil Marine
-new battery

Checked spark- both have decent spark it appears. Compression check both cylinders right around 126psi, kinda low but even. ski does have leaking crank seals and/or rv seal as oil has come out exhaust and has been sitting for atleast 9 or 10 months. Carbs are at 1.5 on low speed adjust and slightly over 0 on high speed adjust. Have no idea what its idle RPMs are right now in garage.

so it starts up smoothly, and idles. have only been running it for 10-15 seconds at a time and stopping it as its in my garage. I have not ran in out in water yet or WOT. At first the throttle responds normal, but eventually after a few starts, it fouls the MAG side plug, and when its too wet, the ski will cut out and die, wont throttle up. I can pull the fouled plug, dry it, put it back it and it runs fine until it fouls up again.

wondering if its times to take it down to the water with extra plugs, and run it in the water for a few, just to maybe get all the oil that maybe fouling that plug... then maybe i can have someone try to tune the carbs. My next Step??????

Did you try running it with the flush attachment( a garden hose and water)???Then you can run it for about 5 minutes tops.At least with 5 min you will be able to clear out the oil that is leaking from crank seals....Just remember ENGINE ON Then WATER ON....WATER OFF THEN ENGINE OFF...very important

No, I havent hooked it up to a hose yet.. Ive heard things about doing so, some say not recommended and ive never done it. It does have the hose to hook up to garden hose with shutoff valve. I was starting to feel that hooking up was only for flushing out, and not cooling while running out of water. I know some components dont cool hooked up to hose. so, do you hook up to connector with red cap (its on outlet side) or is there another inlet to hook up the hose to? thanks for reminding me about starting motor and then water and visa versa.. I did read that before.

You're kinda on borrowed time with the low compression, but you may have the summer left before a rebuild. Keep an eye on the compression with the leaky crank seals you're probably looking at a short block.

Anyway, if it were me I would take it to the lake and run it. It could be just an accumulation of oil thats fouling out the plug, take an extra set of spark plugs, once the oil burns off it maybe O.K. It's hard to tell anything on the trailer, I've seen bad engines run good and good engines run bad.

If this fixes the problem as a temporary measure, after using your ski clamp off the oil line.

Let us know what happens.

I think its time to hit the water then, as soon as the winterlike spring hits summer finally. Ill be sure to take a tow rope with my other seadoo incase the xp stalls and i cant get it restarted on the water. Yeah, i know im really borderline on the compression. only thing that has stopped me is they are pretty identical between cylinders.

If it does blow out the accumulated oil out and runs this season fair enough, which oil line do i pinch off when not in use?? i will let you know what happens.

Just pinch off the main oil line, it'll keep a little less oil from getting into the crankcase. Re: the low compression, you should be fine for the summer, if it gets to around 120 you should do at least a top end overhaul. If the ski is running fine you might want to re-check the compression with another gauge.

thanx for the tips.... yeah, its a good suggestion to check the compression with another tester for accuracy. if it runs ok this summer, im planning on top end with new pistons, rings, etc and also the low end, new crankshart seals, new Rotary valve and seals, and add some aftermarket performance parts maybe too.
