Are there any good resources on how to reinstall an engine in a 95 XP 717? While pulling the pistons on my engine for a top end rebuild, the bearings fell out and down into the crank. I'm pulling the engine out, but I'm concerned about going back in.

My friend helping me says we don't need an engine alignment tool. Engine work is over my head at this point so I'd like to learn more. He's taking apart the block to get the bearings out. Are there any resources to follow for that?

It just goes back in the same way it came out but you definitely need to align it with the correct tool.

Do you know of any leads on the tool or the best place to buy one?

I don't know where you are or what you have for local classifieds but what i did was look at kijiji (it's like craigslist) for people that had a lot of seadoo parts. I'd then message them asking if they had the tool to buy\rent, no local shops around me would let me rent it and locally the rod and plate costs north of $500 CAD so i wasn't buying it.

I found someone with the tool that would rent it but for the same price he aligned the engine for me so i just took the seadoo to him.

Definitely align it, there's no decent way to do it without the tool.
