Hello, I have a 95 spx w/657 motor, I have weak looking spark, starts sometimes on its own and always when boosted but still doesn't idle or run great( will rev up).. I have checked stator with multimeter came out great! I have cleaned carbs, tested coil, that was good also. I am thinking Mpem but would like a second opinion before I pony up the bucks. Also when it starts it smokes and backfires some, as if it has not got enough spark to burn the oil. . This problem started last year it was running great then shut it off to hangout on the beach and it wouldn't fire back up. It had no spark at that time.. Now it has spark just looks weak as said before.. Thanks for any input and sorry if u got confused reading this!!

Try trimming the plug wires at the spark plug boot back 1/4". Then thread the boot back on.(there is a screw in the plug) and I used a zap strap to hold the wire in the boot.
The pro's here can confirm if the wires on the 95 spx are the same as the 97gtx.

all wire ends are essentially the same design. at least in the 90's. i wouldn't think the mpem would do this. no spark? yes. weak spark? doubtful.

Tried cutting back plug wires, no change. According to the seadoo shop manual most troubleshoots that involve weak spark are related to the cdi. Thanks for the input guys..
