I don't know my way around the forum yet so bear with me . I have a 95 spx I bought not running.
The guy I bought it from had replaced the module
[278-001-134]the old part is [278-000-423] I took it to a Seadoo place who said the new module was dead.
I called bullsh** on that and took it home . The old module had a blown fuse [5a] I replaced the fuse and put the old one back in. the last wires I plugged in was the solenoid plug. As soon as I plugged it in the motor began to turn over with no start switch or lanyard connected. If you have some ideas it would be appreciated.
Thanks

something is either hooked up wrong, or the start button is stuck in the crank position. (switch closed)

It spins with the old module with the start button out of the circuit.
It has not done this with the new module .If it's shorted outside the module
it should spin with both units. however it does not produce spark with either
unit.
This is definitly a head scratcher.

the module does not fire the starter solenoid. it makes the spark, and advances the spark, and provides the rev limiter. unless somebody put a DESS system in it. the lanyard just holds a button switch in, right? you could do it with your thumb?

Thanks to you guys [derek timmyboy] I may be getting somewhere .

I reinstalled the new module the same way as the old one rechecked
the post connection as TB said. The starter did not engage.SFSG . I put a test light on the lanyard circuit ; it was hot t'ill I put the lanyard on ; but the starter would spin with the start button.I'm away from the module as the culprit and on to the start button and/or safety switch per derek. What do you guys think ?
