Daryl, could be a lot of things. Coil, plug wires, MPEM, rev limiter, ignition module.

Most of the time the rev limiter from mpem goes bad and this will cause no spark. Disconnect the black/red wire and see if it will start, if you got spark then it's the rev limiter.

Also there are two relays in the MPEM one is for charging and the other is for the ignition system.

They are the same, just different functions. try switching these and see if you have spark, if you do the ignition relay is bad, it is the one near the module center.

Are these ecu peices interchangeable ? I have a 95 587 SPI box I can rob.
I am fixing a 95 657x SPX

No, the MPEMs are not interchangeable and can cause damage to the motor. Before you start swapping out parts trim the leads on the plug wires a tad bit to make sure you have a good solid connection.

I'm not a fan of swapping parts to find a problem unless it's something very well hidden. A good tech will be able to diagnose and find the problematic problem w/o swapping a bunch of parts.

I did not know they had MPEMs. I thought they were ECU. Which end do I trim?
What is this black thing, a coil?
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!! Muchly <:)
Oh, Can I put a 717 in my 96SP ???? it blew rod tru case My friend
has a 657x and a 717. Would it be ok with my pump, bellyplate ?
