95 sposter reverse ,forward ,neutral cable

95 single engine sportster cable broke i also have a 95 speedster twin engine so i took one of the cables off it and placed it on the sportster one pull it broke as well very tight when moving almost like its jammed is it something I'm doing wrong can I fix the cable or do I need to just buy new ones about to use the other cable first dont want to ruin it as well if possible lol and yes both boats will be for sale soon lol

SBT sells new replacement cables. Make sure everything operates smoothly without the cable connected. I know the pivot points have bushings.
