Question#1:

Will those standard clear fuel filters you see at Walmart work rather than the OEM white inline oil filters for the injection system?

Question#2:

There are (4) small oil hoses that come off the pump, correct? I read somewhere about other lubrication that it provides to the engines beside those tubes. Are there more than 4 of the small tubes?

I'm sure they would work... but I never decided to actually try them since OEM's are only $8.

Don't even think of it. Get the correct one! Oil my not flow well with those. Why be cheap, engines are not.

I agree that OEM is generally ideal, but if the flow rates test good with the fuel filter, here would be the benefits:

Walmart fuel filter:
-Substantially less expensive
-Larger debris capacity
-Much better filtration. This is a paper filter, where OEM is a plastic screen
-You can see through the casing to monitor debris and filter life
-Readily available at any department store

Benefits of OEM:
-Guaranteed good flow rates

So if the Walmart fuel filter has good flow rates, it would be a much better filter, no?

I would test the shit out of that idea before I trusted it. Usualy when oil goes through a paper filter it is pumped through, and it is hot so it is "thinner". Also most all paper media oil filters have a bypass for when the media cant handle the flow of cold oil and allows it to go around the media. I will be supprised if the oil gravity feeds through a paper filter.
