HI everyone,

HAs anyone every had the area where the three controls for the throttle not want to undo? if so what were your solutions? None of the for screws under the white cover plate want to move. im contemplating drilling them out. wise or not so wise?

also the port engine throttle control is loose. the forward reverse control and the starboard engine controls are fine.? what to do and how to tighten would be great?

Many thanks.

To remove the screws, drill them out and tap and re thread them with stainless steel screws. Use Never seize on new screws threads for the future. You might want to subscribe to the "premium Membership" for a seadoo manual for correct adjustment. It gets too involved to re-type all the information here.

Whoa

I would not try to drill out the 4 throttle quadrant mounting screws. They screw into a thin aluminum plate, it is pretty hard to re-tap and new ones are a pain to put in. Instead I would put some Liquid Wrench on the 4 screw bases and wait at least 8 hours. If they still wont come out, I would get a very long handled screw extractor and try to leverage them out. Make sure to replace them with new screws., however make sure the thread pitch matches they are extra fine thread pitch.

Note that the 2 aluminum backing plates have a tendency to fall into the inside hull and cant be retrieved, so be careful when re-attaching the 4 throttle screws. I actually drilled 4 additional holes and secured the 2 aluminum plates with through-bolts so they cant fall into the hull. Use a tiny drill to start or gel coat will flake off.

The port throttle friction adjuster is the center bolt on the port side of the whole throttle assembly, the one in the recessed hole. First lubricate the levers and work them back and forth, then adjust the friction and use Loc-Tite to secure the adjuster nut. The starboard throttle friction adjuster is a little set screw on the starboard side of the throttle unit. yes the 2 are completely different.

i had problems getting mine out so I went to Sears and bought a impact screwdriver...cost about $25.00. Hit it with a hammer and it should get the screw out.... That is if they are not rounded out from previous attempts. This tool is good for a lot of lock tighted screws on this boat.
