Ok i'm baffled! Was out on ski last week (95 GTS) and it bogged down then quit, tried startin it and it bogged down and quit again, then it would only clunk. I took it home and cleaned all the terminals and it would turn over again but was not getting fuel. I took the carb apart and cleaned it, now it gets fuel, it has spark but still will not start.............Help!!!!
By the way compression is at 130 on both cylinders.

This might be a dumb ? but is the saprk good? How old are the plugs. I would suggest getting new ones for the 2 dollars they cost I would try that if your sure there is fuel in the engine. You might just have a weak spark.

Give the ground off the ignition coils a look over to be sure it is getting a GOOD connection. With Compression, Spark and Fuel it shoud fire.

COuld I be getting too much fuel....I'm not sure exactly how to set the low/high speed....is it 1 1/4 turn back from as far as it will screw in?

The High Speed screw is set to "0". These have a plastic cap on them to keep them from being turned any more than 1/4 turn. The Low Speed screw is set to 1 1/4 turns. The screw has a pin through it. If you need to adjust the idle speed do NOT use the low speed screws to adjust it. Use the IDLE Screw to adjust both carbs at the same time. When adjusting the carbs be sure both carbs are in sync.
I hope this info helps you out.

all adjustments are from the screw turned or seated all the way in...back it out to aquire the adjustment.

Adjusted the idle....still nothing. I cleaned off all the terminals good....could I be getting a weak spark, if so what can I do next?

Thanks.

Are the correct spark plugs gaped properly?
Spark Plugs for 2 stroke, NGK BR8ES, Gap/ 0.5-0.6mm or .020-.024in.

You could remove the spark plug clips and boots, cut off 1/4" from the plug wire end and reinstall the clip and boot with silicone spray, see it that helps.

Does it matter if you use br8es or br7es? I have a 92 and 95 and the manual says to use 7's. Not sure if there will be a big difference but I got them anyway.

Ok cut back plugs 1/4", still nothing, I compared the spark to my SPX and they are the same and it starts right away....i'm stumped!
I think the next step is a match and a bunch of gas!!!!

Hunter I feel your pain

I have been having the same problem. I'll watch this. This is the 2nd time I heard the coil ground idea but where is it grounded to.
Also I see alot of teathered cord switch recommendations here and other places. This is a normally opened and should be straight forward. Is there some sort of anomoney about this and should I always have one on hand?
Today mine tried to start and belched up a bunch of water, Its been sitting since July 4. I wasnt driving mine when it screwed up and cant get an honest account. I'll assume what happen to you happened to the girl riding it.
