95 GTX whats diff between 657 and 657x ?

was just curious what is diffrence in 657 engine and 657x

My 95 has the 657x Did not know if all had the x after it and it was just not mentioned in post or on Manuals... still learning basics about these and was just curious..hope not a waste of thread space to ask im just one of those types that has to know lol :blush:

657x...

The 657X was the next step up in the 657. It has a little more power than the standard 657. It was only used for one year, if I remember right. It was like a prototype, the following year it was scraped and the 717 was born.

Although they are both considered 657, the X model has some internal porting and the intake has more of an oval design than round.

Thanks seadoosnipe. i also noticed on my titles that the 657x shows 34 HP and the 717 shows 31 HP would that be fairly accurate ? and again thanks for the info...
