95 GTX wear ring

I just installed new motor while breaking it in I sucked up rope when I started it and it messed up the wear ring. The motor install did not seem that hard just took time is the wear ring something the basic tools can get me threw?I have looked at the manual it doe not look that hard but are special tools required for removal and installation.Thanks from ol Sparky

Ol Sparky,in the manual you will see a tool for removing the impeller. It cost about $25.00. It's worth the price of saved aggravation.
