My 95 gtx steering cable broke at the fwd. end . I rethreaded it . then when I turn right somthing jumps out ( no steeirng ) I bought another 95 for parts but I cant get the plastic nut off the aft end. Any body ever changed a steering cable?
hi. cable broke at the handlebar end and you rethreaded. you made it shorter. turn all-way to right pulls it all-way out at the front end. on my 93 GTS i have close to an inch of adjustment on the mounting bracket for the front end of the outer cable sheath. loosen the two nuts and screw them further down the cable to move the end of outer sheath forward the amount equal to what was broken off and you should be good. what jumps out, and what do you do to get it back in?
