94 XP parts compatibility and Starting problems after rebuild

What years interchange with the 94 XP 650X? I was having some problems with my ski. Took it to a guy, long story short, he hack the electrical box up and know there are wires that dont go to anything, wires that have been cut and removed blah blah blah. I found a complete box out of a 93 XP with all the wires, switches, everything for a reasonable price. Just need to know what years fit what.

Also, I had the motor rebuilt and ever since the ski wont run. It tries to hit every once in a while but all it does is smoke and back fire. The rotary valve is in time and it has plenty of fuel and fire but wont start. I've changed the stator twice because of this retard that was working on it. He said he tried a different flywheel and also an ignition coil but it wasn't the right one thats why its hacked. He also sad the engine is filling up with oil and he thinks the crank seals are bad or its the wrong crank.

Personally I think the guy is an idiot. So I guess I'm going to tackle it. Any help would be great!!!

Thanks in advance, Bobby

hey Bobby....think the first thing to do, because with right parts, aint gonna fire, is to see if oil is blown out the holes. If not, then you say the RV is right, but have read where the put RV is actually 180degrees off, also, your stator adjustment can be advanced/retard to much?...I'll check for coil,rectifier,...etc,: capatabilities...
Alright....all compatible with 93XP
1)Rectifier..#278000123
2)solenoid..#278000342
3)Amplifier..#278000304
4)Coil..#278000303

Thanks for the fast reply. I'm 90% sure the RV is right. I'm mechanically inclined to say the least but I dont really do much with rotax or RV engines. Why couldnt they just put reed valves in!?!? lol

Anyway thanks again. It looks like it spits oil out the plug holes and when it tries to hit its spitting and coughing up through the carbs too. Thats were the 10% not sure about the RV comes in. lol

I just got done reading a post about hydro lock because of oil. Dont think mines that bad but I might split the case and check the seals. Supposedly everything was rebuilt but the shop that did the engine (different from the guy that tried to get it running) had the motor for over six months and we basically had to threaten to sue him just to get our motor back. So there is no telling whats going on inside the motor.

I think I'll snag the motor tomorrow and see whats up with the seals.

Cool...make sure anything you get, parts,..etc, that you mention it is the (X) motor. Besides the oval ports, the stroke,tolerances..etc, posted difference somewhere on here, are different than reg 657...good luck

it won't run, but it spins. are you blowing out mass quantitys of oil when cranking with plugs out? attached is a pic of a 580 with RV in time. the 650 has a lil bit wider opening but if you center the open spot like this is with the FRONT piston at TDC, it will run. you can also count flywheel teeth and use them as a degree wheel. 77 teeth=4.675 degrees to a tooth. you can cut that to just over 2 degrees by using the high and low spots between teeth.
