'94 SPX engine shuts off after start

I just bought a '94 spx from a friend of a friend who didnt know what was wrong with it.... here is the issue


After start the engine runs for like 30 sec then just shuts off.. It doesnt bog down like its starved for fuel or anything, it just turns off. I can restart it right away then same thing just shuts off

Any ideas? Sounds electrical to me... but I'm not sure...

I own two 1994 SPX. I believe what you have is a fuel problem. Look and see if your fuel lines are grey. If they are get rid of them and go to the auto parts store and buy about 30ft of black fuel injector hose, as well as about 30 small hose clamps. remove and clean your fuel selector valve, fuel filter (watch the black O ring) and then remove and clean carbs. Inside the carbs are small filter screens they are probably full of crap.

If it were electrical it would happen all the time. It has been my experience with electrical that it either works or it don't. (you can't be almost pregnant)
