Hi all PWC newbie here! Is a 94 SPI 580 motor

So I had a bit of dramas today, I went to take my ski out and very stupidly I forgot to put the drain plug in the motor was running absolutely fine but I noticed it took on quite a bit of water luckily it was still on the trailer and on slipway, and the engine cut out.

I checked instantly the air box and noticed it wasn’t wet at all, the water only came up to about the carb level I believe but I removed plugs and turned it over to check for water anyway and nothing except a mist of fuel came out.

I put the plugs back in after cleaning them off and it still wouldn’t fire up, now out of nowhere I’m just getting clicking from the starter solenoid I’ve checked the fuses and they seem to be fine battery is holding voltage, all the electronics inside the box are brand new and none of it seemed wet.

Sorry if I’m asking stupid questions I’m completely new to all of this, any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

Is the battery fully charged?
Load test the fully charged battery
If you jump the selenoid does it turn over normally?
If not,..water could have entered the starter,,,and turn the brushes into “mush.”,.to pinpoint the starter,,,run a positive cable directly to the positive terminal of the starter and see if it responds properly?

Battery fully charged and has been load tested, when I attempted to jump the solenoid there was no sparks or anything happening, the button clicks the solenoid every time without fail.

Starter motor is super rusty and hard to get too, but I’ll try run a cable directly to starter and I’ll report back.

Thanks

Hi

Managed to get the ski started, starter motor was dead! But now it seems to be getting inconsistent spark, it’s running really badly and will only start when throttle is applied.

Also compression tested at 132 per cylinder.
