I recently had problems starting my explorer, so i replaced the starter and solenoid and it would still not do a thing when i pushed the start button. So i hooked the battery directly to the starter and it fired right up. i did this a couple of times and it would fire right up but would then shut off right away like something was preventing it. I then opened up the electrical box and was making sure all the solenoid corrections were right, so i tapped a wrench to the two top wires and it would fire but would not start. Now i knew something was wrong because before it would start right away. Now when i hit the starter button nothing happens at all its like nothing is even hooked to it, im very lost because i just replaces the solenoid and before it would at least click, and now it does nothing. Any ideas?? Also the stop tether cord is gone, and has been, the guy before me didnt have one and it ran fine, if this came unhooked could this be my problem?

Yes if the safety switch is not depressed it will not start. Also the engine has to be started by the start stop switch. If not the morning will only grant spark and electric "on" for 30 seconds. Start by fixing/checking the lanyard switch.
