New to the forum.

I am doing a top end rebuild after finding out the mag side piston was blown. While taking things apart I came across one tube that was just sitting there not connected to anything. I tried tracking it down in the repair manual but cant seem to figure it out. Here are a couple pics, can someone tell me where the end connects to? maybe show in a pic if possible.

thanks, Digs

Cool, thanks for the fast replies... I was already looking into replacing the fuel lines. I was told to just bypass the stock fuel filter and use my own? sound right?

How I actually found out that the piston had smoked is that after firing it up on the trailer for a couple seconds (running perfect) then dumping it into the water it would only idle, after throttling it wouldnt rev up or go anywhere. Took it back to the shop and did a compression check, 145 at the pto and 30 on the mag side, took off the cylinder head and found the blown piston.

I just want to get this ski working and resell to get something different, trying to save as much cash as possible, so before I do the fuel line, should I just finish the top end rebuild and see if the symptoms still exist?

I also want to remove the carbs and clean them and check the internal filters but I dont want to take the whole motor out. Can anyone let me know what the trick is? The top 2 nuts are easy to get to but the bottom ones look impossible without removing the motor, my biggest concern is the cables (throttle).

Sorry for all the questions in one message, thanks for all the help in advance!

The carbs. are fairly easy to remove. If you haven't already remove the air box, flame arrester, carb. cables, and the four large (2 one each carb.) allen head bolts. On the inlet side of the carbs. there are two large blocks, remove the 4 screws and the filters are behind the second block. They are about half the size of a pencil eraser, remove them and soak in super clean, do not use carb. cleaner.

You didn't ask but I would replace the fuel lines now, you don't want to blow another top end because the ski is running lean.

Thanks Lou....

I will be removing the carbs so I can clean them and the inner filters.

Couple questions... I need to drain the gas tank so I can mess with the baffle and I figure it would be good to empty it anyway so I can do the fuel lines and the carbs. Do you have any tips on how to drain the tank and then how to remove it. Do I need to do anything with the oil tank? looks like it sits on top of the fuel tank.

Appreciate all the help, thanks....
