While at the the lake I started my Seadoo and the starter kept going after I let go of the button. I ended up having to pull the kill switch to stop it. This has happened intermittently previously but never this long. I tried to start it again and the button did not stick. Now the Seadoo is misfiring up to about 1/2 throttle (but not at idle). I know I should replace the starter solenoid and possibly the push start button....but why is the engine misfiring now? Is it possible that the solenoid fried another part of the electrical system?

Don't know exactly why it's miss firing... but you have an electrical issue... and I'm sure it has something to do with the starter.

With that said... since your starter was spinning with the engine running... you could have some metal shavings in the mag unit.

Can the metal pieces be in contact with the pick-up? Or are they not able to be in the same area?
