This ski has a 587 motor, fresh fuel-premix, carbs have been rebuilt and rebuilt pump,150 comp., filter clean and new plugs.

Ran the ski about 4 hours and ran great!

The ski starts right up every time.

The Problem:

When throttling about 3/4 it starts planning well and then all of the sudden loses propulsion!

I back off the throttle and it builds back up to planning and then goes flat!

I went through this cycle for almost a half hour before putting on the trailer!

Somebody please Help!

Thanks In Advance,
Darren

Nose heavy?

Sounds like your nose is heavy, causing you to loose the pump at plane off. Put some weight on the back, see what happens.

If possible, adjust the nozzle. It may have been adjusted before, someone trying to get it to plane off better, for more speed........

ok, loses propulsion. what do you mean? does the engine stumble and start to lose power, thus losing propulsion? or does the engine rev up and the ski starts to drop back into the water?

1994 GTX Loses Power Full Throttle

When I start to go from 3/4 throttle to full throttle it seems as if engine loses power-no rev and ski drops back in the water.

Like I said it ran perfect for 4.5 hours straight with same amount of weight in nose as when I lost power.

I did have the grey fuel lines and after seeing posts on this website, I replaced today.

I also put some Seafoam in the fuel tank as recomended by ski shop.

Starts right up and revs. fine out of water.

I will retest this weekend.

Thanks for any help you guys can throw my way!

hey...I'd rip thru carbs again, with grey lines, internal filters could be clogged up, also, recheck the inline filter as well as the fuel selector valve...
