I have a 93 XP that i have recently purchased(3 days ago)... It has been sitting for 2.5 years. The gentleman I purchased it from told me that he thinks it has a loss of ground problem and I am trying to research what is causing this no crank no start issue.

I have tested quite a few components at this point and have installed a new glass mat battery. Continuity on the negative cable is good, cleaned up the ends re-installed, and still nothing. I checked for power at the switch and it is good, checked for power at the solenoid also good, however, the only way I can get any crank is by jumping the solenoid itself.

Any Ideas Welcomed, Not too familiar with this PWC. I've owned several others but recently moved so I had sold them all. Came across this deal and jumped all over it.

Thanks for your time and patience.

Kill switches....

You have kill switches that run in series for your ski. You have the "stop" button and you have the lanyard tether. These must both make up before you can get power.

What you can do is open the engine compartment. Look for the wires coming from the handlebar. One of them is going to be the starter button, the other will be the kill/tether switch. You need to find the connecter and unplug it. You will either need to leave it un-plugged or jumper to close the switch. Then, push the start button..........you should get fire then.......

nada

tried unplugging both sets of wires still nothing... secondly i see no spot for the tether... and my starter button and wiring is down on the console not up on the handle bars... i believe that the only wiring going into the handle bars is my two gauges (fuel and tach) and my vts wiring. any other thoughts?

Thanks

in addition

Okay for shits and giggles i got a wild hair up my rear and held the stop button while pushing the start button.. engine tried to turn over... pulled the spark plugs and engine turned over great while no compression being formed... re-installed spark plugs... engine does not want to turn over but can hear starter click/clunk... all whilst holding in the stop button...

Now any Ideas LOL...

Thank you,
JP
