93 XP dies the starter wont crank for a few minutes then starts back up

Thanks for any help that can be offered. I just bought a 93 XP which seems to be somewhat modded, carbs, exhaust impeller. It kinda sucks out of the hole but top speed is great. The problem is occasionally when going 3/4+ throttle it will just turn off. When I try to restart it the starter will just click. After sitting for a minute or two it will start up or maybe just turn over slowly so wait a little longer then it will start. Seemed to happen more frequently after it has been running for a while. Any ideas?
