I have a '93 SPX that recently started having a problem keeping the key attached to the switch on the hull. It will be running fine, then all of a sudden the key pops off. This happens with both the old key and a new key. It's almost like the spring-loaded rod that the key pushes down on has too much tension and over comes the plastic snap-fit of the key.
The only way I've found to keep the key on is to loosen up the switch on the hull which effectively relieves some of the spring tension.
Anybody else have a similar situation? What was your resolve? Can I use a washer or two under the switch to raise it some to loosen up on the spring tension, but still keep it tight on the hull?
