93 GTX starting issue please help!!!!!!!

I just aquired a 93 GTX and I have narrowed down a problem that is occuring. When I first tried to start it the motor would turn over but would not fire, it had no spark so I took out the electrical box and figured out that if I disconnect the red and black wire that goes from the mpep to the coil it would run, but it will not shut off until i reconect the wire. So my question is what is causing this to happen. I already tried a different kill switch and thier was no change. Any help would be greatly appreciated.:rofl:

Hey crc1racn. If you can pull the red wire and it runs then the rectifier/regulator needs to be replaced.

MPEM is bad - been there, done that. I bought a new one on ebay for 80 or so.

It turned out it was the MPEP, thanks for all of your help, and have a merry christmas.:hurray:
