92 XP shut off twice for no reason

Took my 92 XP to a mechanic a couple weeks ago to look at a sluggishness problem. He thought there might be a bit of water in the carbs so he had me put some Seafoam in some 91 octane gas and run the machine for a few hours. I did that and it ran a ton better. Felt like it had more power and went faster. He said the next week I should take it out and repeat the process. Well about 15 minutes into my ride the machine turned off completely at full power. It started right back up and I rode for maybe five more minutes and it did it again.

So I started it up again and thought it might be a good idea to take it back to the dock. So in the 20 minutes of riding back the dock it ran fine. Anyone know what could have happened to cause the machine to shut off? I'd like to take it out again today but don't want to get stranded. Thanks.

seafoam, just temp fix. Need to pull apart carb/s, and fuel system, replace grey lines if in, clean/replace fuel selector and rebuild carb/s, and inline filter, have read, that the o-ring in/on top there, if dry-rotted/missing, can cause engine to starve for gas...

benji to a buck fitty, for all parts I listed, including rebuild kit for each carb..BN-38 is the model carbs..low is 1.25, and high is 0...

Interesting--I have a 97 SPX that I just cleaned carbs, fuel valve, gas tank and replaced the fuel lines. This happened to me AFTER doing all of this. It behaved like it was a fuel problem but I don't know how---perhaps I have something amiss w/the needle/seat?? I didn't read the plugs when it happened since I was on new water and couldn't get to shore.
