Hi,
I'm having trouble with my 92 seadoo sp. It will start right up, "sometimes" other times it will not. When it does start, It will run good until you shut it off, then it will not restart. It never has any trouble turning over the motor, but it just keeps cranking over without starting.
I checked the spark plugs during the time that it won't start and they both have spark. This last time I ran it after I turned it off I tried to restart it and it kept making a loud beeping sound that would not stop until I pressed the stop button. Each time I tried to start it, it would beep, but it would not start.
I took it to the Honda Shop last year and they told me it needed a new "stator" not starter, stator. It was going to run me about 800 dollars to fix. I want to make sure that is the problem before I spend that, they told me "that might be the problem" but they don't sound too sure.
Is the stator a difficult part to replace?

Thanks,

Hey spinner...
Replacing the stator is not that bad, however, you;ll have to pull the motor. its located in the mag housing(front of motor), behind the flywheel.
Spinner, i'd start w/ checking fuel system...inline filter, fuel valve selector, fuel lines( replace if grey ones), and then go thru carb/s...there is a way though, on this site, go thru the search part, how to test the stator for resistance w/out remove'n it....
