is it possible to put in two separate MPEM's out of a seadoo PWC's instead of replacing the single MPEM that is currently in this boat? a local independent seadoo mechanic says he can do it for me.

well the single MPEM that is in the boat is around $1200-$1500 (which mine needs replacing), if you go with the single MPEM on each engine they are $300-$500 and plenty of them around.

Yes you can, its running great, 2 MPEM instead of one. had to add a lanyard for the each side.

Would you be able to give me the phone number to the guy who did the work on your boat I have the. Same problem I would very much appreciat that and thank you paul

Yes you can do it. If you buy aftermarket MPEMs you won't need the DESS lanyards anymore since the aftermarkets don't use them and they will be easier to hook up. Remember though you won't have the 3500RPM limit in reverse and netural safty switch won't work either so the boat will start with the levers in any position. People only go this way if you can't get an MPEM or they discontinued it.

can you send me info or a link to where i can get these aftermarket mpem's i dont care about the dess lanyard system or the rev limiter or neutral switch, looking to buy one for now...

On Ebay they list brand new ones or used ones. All the aftermarket MPEM don't use DESS. The rev limiter in reverse is built in the throtle levers. Like here what the listing looks like 'New SeaDoo Mpem 1995-96 580 720 SP SPI GTS HX 278001134'. You are looking for the mid 90 years less wiring and they don't have the factory sockets.

i have twin 787's and need a mpem to run one motor, can you tell me which would work best,,its a 98 challenger 1800

Just have to get an MPEM that is for the 787 its the only difference. Even if you get one with the DESS in it I seen people just mount the other DESS port next to the other one. They are listed on Ebay and forums like this selling them you should be able to get an MPEM for under $200. You can still find used or buy new your MPEM. They still do sell them for most of the challengers if you don't want to do custom wiring.

Ya, original mpem sells for 1200 used, I would be happy to spend a couple hundred. So can I buy any year mpem that runs a 787, I thought I needed a certain year because it controls te timing or something?

The only main difference in the DESS stuff on the new ones and the newer ones have that direct fit plug to the harness that will be different on the boat than the ski. So you want to find one that doesn't use the plug since it will be hard to it make it work. The pictures above is exactly what people do. They took the whole electrical box and mounted it on the boat.

I have to install one of these single mpem into my 98 challenger, i bought the same mpem as you installed, do you have the wiring diagram for these single mpem and the challenger so that i know what wires to connect to which?

ive been looking for this infor for 2 months now..

I have since sold the boat, not much lake left in Texas. I dont know much about the total conversion, I can tell you that I had to use 2 DESS post, one for each engine. after the conversion I had no spedo, no rpms. The guy who did this for me is a seadoo mechanic in Kingsland Texas, his name is Chris, (512) 739-5826. tell him someone gave you his business card.

I know you may be just making a point here, but I didn't think the 787 engine came on the scene until 95 in the Limited production XP, called the XP 800.
