I took my boat out everything fine last year but i went out for a ride everthing good and cruisin fine then the engine cut out, started fine but went i went to power up to go again it would not just went about 4-5ooo rpm and noticed alot of dark blue smoke coming from the exhaust. I cleaned rave valves and started ok and when i went to power up again there was alot of smoke from the exhaust and would not go full speed so any ideas in what to do, thanks in advance.

What have you checked?

Smoke is oil. SO... have you checked the oil pump cable? Did you put in fresh spark plugs this season?

Lot's of smoke is oil. Did you verify that your oil injection pump is set up right? If the cable broke... it will go to "Full", and pump in a ton of oil for idle.

the oil injection pump good when i took out the plugs they were really black, and with the new plugs just couldnt get it plane out i prolly went half throttle and i mean lots of thick smoke coming out of exhaust. im still new with these kinds of boats. Im no where near a shop or anything so any more help is really appreciated we have no roads to take to shop thanks in advance

Well... if the oil pump is set properly... then you have lost the center seals in the crank, and they are leaking oil into the crank case.

How long did you try to run for?

hi didnt have time busy with work but to update there was alot of black biuld up on new spark plugs when the boat had a loss of power and lots of smoke then i put new plugs again and ran it fot about 10 mins and same thing the new plugs were black any ideas.

hi again took another look and used a mirorr like the post for the oil pump alignment and found the half moon looking thing where thee wire goes with the end stopper was busted so it must have been set to full. i hope this makes sense so do i need the black cable with the wire in it that connects to the half moon thing. or is there some way to put an end where it snapped. its a black plactic cover covering the wire or cable. thats funny hope this makes sense.

i looked at that sticky 787 pic of oil pump is that the right setting for the oil pump wire the one with the mirror showing the settings. when i tried to position the cablw ire where it sits and rides on the half moon thing the wire snapped so can i pull the wire to get more cable or do i have to buy the oil cable?

hi to update i had to buy a new oil injection cable took a couple weeks put in on today what a pain didnt realize the small area to work in so I put in the new injection cable, took the boat out, let it idle for about 5 mins, I powered up the boat to full throttle, about 10 mins later I stopped the boat and restarted fine. So, thanks for the help. Until next time, happy boating
