So took apart my rotary valve area and found the disk has a nick in it and the motor has a gouge in it. are they both still usable?

Thanks. I also notice a few teeth missing on outer ring on the fly wheel area, is this ok? Looks like they have been missing for some time or were never there?

That space is there on purpose. It's for engine timing. Unless you have two spaces like that one. :D

You can’t run that disc, get a new one.

Smooth out any rough spots on the cases to prevent wear. As long as the gouges don’t connect the two ports it should be ok.

Now the bigger question… what metal part caused the damage and where is it now.

Finally your rotary gear is probably stripped so you really need to split the cases and inspect.
