Wondering if an mpem from a 787x is different from a base 787. Found a Gtx with a bad mpem, and have a good mpem from a 787x. Thanks.

It will work but the 95 MPEM ending in 510 does not have a grey wire to run the tach the way the original GTX MPEM ending in 897 does. I'm assuming the GTX is a 96....

There were only 500 787X engines made and originally they were all in 95 XP800's. It's possible that somebody transplanted one in that 96. Either way your OK because the 95 XP800 and the 96XP use the same MPEM ending in 510.

My 96 GSX 787 had a seperate MPEM and CDI (which I managed to blow up twice!). The final replacement CDI I purchased was also a 96 (apparently) but had the CDI and MPEM in a single unit. It wired up fine to mine and works a treat (no more fried CDI units!), so there are changes within the year
