Probably a dumb question, but does it go in only one way? I noticed it had a bow to it and I am wondering if it should bow out or in towards the carbs.

Thanks,

It doesn't matter, it's not supposed to have a bow in it try to straighten it out, it doesn't need to be perfect.

It's supposed to have a bump in the middle, fsm calls it an "embossment". It points so the highest point is towards the sky.

Thanks, that does help. Trying to get it back together so I can go boating tomorrow. It's F#cken 1/2 way through August and I have not been out once. Sad summer. I can't find the carb gaskets that go between it and the airbox. Going to run it anyway.

Well, that's a new one on me, I've never seen one with a hump, but I've never owned a carb. model newer than a 97, I guess I leaned something.

my shop manual says to use 518 anerobic sealant, mmm I didn`t like that so I used a smear of 1211...
There wasn`t anything on mine when I took them apart.
same here been working on the boat since April, supposed to be "turnkey" but it was def not, long story...

good luck and hope you get out on the water...
