I'm having a engine stalling problem on my 97 Challenger. Starts and idles at 1500 rpm perfect.
If I inch the throttle up slowly, it dies just over 2800 (3/8 throttle)
I cannot go from idle to 1/2 throttle or anything higher without it stalling.
I can run it up to 2800 where it starts to stumble, then push through to 3/4 throttle. The engine will stumble but will make it and then runs fine. Once up in this range I can run down to 4000 or up to 7000 with no problem.

Any suggestions?

Clean the carbs.

DO NOT keep running the engine this way. Fuel issues will melt a 2-stroke faster than anything.

Thanks thats on my list of things to do:
Change Flame Arrester Foam (Lean Hesitation),
Rebuilt all carbs (accelerator pump),
Changed fuel filters (partial blocked),
Cleaned RAVE valves (carbon build-up) and
Replace Water pressure regulator).

Stop driving it, till you rebuild carbs to shop manual specs, fuel selector, fuel lines, water fuel separator filter, pressure test system.
Also make sure venting system is working correctly, push / pull.

As a side note do not trust that the carbs are original to the boat, if you have not owned it since day one, I had someone sneak one in on me , the jetting and needle valves are different amongst the years and models, from skis to boats.

I also probably have the carbs you need if you wanted some to rebuild, does yours have an accelerator pump?

if it does when you rebuild them replace that gasket to, and those lines and check valve.
