Just about ready to start on my '96 SPX project.
Probably going to need a motor re-do.
Wondering what all is involved in rebuilding the crank myself.
It would save alot of money by purcasing the rebuild kit instead of a rebuilt crank.
What specialty tool are needed beyond basic tools?
Are there any guides out there that cover crank rebuilding so that I can look over to see if I have the resources to do it myself.
I have rebuilt a few small block chevys over the years.
I have a couple of machine shops around, but need to check and see what machine work they can perform on the Rotax.
Been doing some figuring and found that I may be able to save some money by rebuilding myself, if have I have the resources and tool available to do the job.

You will have to buy all of the bearing & con rods & take them to your machinist and have him rebuild it. The crank will have to be pressed apart and pressed back together with the new parts. He will make sure it's indexed and true.

forget all that sh**, unless you gots the tools in the garage. By the time you pay for rebuild kit AND have machinist do that, I'd think your better off buying a completed assy...

I wasn't looking to have anybody do any work at all.
Was needing to know what special tools are needed and what is involved in rebuilding a crank.
