bought a 95 speedster w/ twin 657x. Im working on small things to get it up to snuff
Heres my question..
I have a tach that doesn't seem to work, verified it is a working tach by swapping wires in the hood. traced down to maybe this being the problem in the picture. my stator has 4 wires but one seems to gone completely missing right down to the boot of both connectors. I can feel the wire at both bases. is this the wire that gives signal to the tachometer?

So, is it safe and should i try and solider a wire to connect these ends together again? or should i buy a used stator?

The tach signal comes from the power wires on the stator. So... if it's charging... it should work. From the picture... I can't tell if any thing is missing. If it is... then fix the wire.

Yeh there is one wire missing since there are only three in the picture. so today while the engine was running i used a small wire and made the circuit that the missing wire would make but no tach worky. Not sure what the missing wire does? anyone have an idea?
