Got up to 55mph loaded with gear and one person with me going across the lake. I think I could hit 60mph with a empty boat. The cooler air helped out; normally I run 52-53 mph. What is everyone else getting up to?

only gps speed recorded was48.9 mph on 10 to 12" waves,with 2- 200 pounders,2- 12"subway subs,and 8 heavyweight canadian beers:cheers:

4-Stroke...

He has the 155 hp 4-TEC engine although, some models come with the 215 SC engine. The newest models out by Rotax and are 4 stroke engines...........

 I thought you were describing part of your audiosystem there... I was actually going to google "subway" for subwoofer drivers.

Are you talking GPS or Dream-o-meter!!!
I have a '97 challenger 1800 (2 x 110hp) and have seen 53mph on GPS!!
But i have seen 62mph on factory speedo!!!!

The salt water must slow you down:) The mercurys are underrated from the factory, actual hp is 300

4-tec....

I was referring to Lee's boat. There seems to be some confusing posting going on in this thread...........but, hey, I'll bow out of this one.

Post number 11, I'd like to know what engine your talking about rated at 300 hp?....

Lol, dont be so gulible. I was being sarcastic.

I just bought a 99 sportster 2 x 85hp's and usually hit about 43mph with a few people in it. I'm debating on having it taken in and checked out. From what I've read, new wear rings might be the fix to get me above 50-55mph?

Hi
I have the same boat 155 4tec. On a small lake, moderate chop, one person,
1/4 tank of fuel I can hit 58 mph since wear ring and impeller were replaced.
The boat is very fast. It seems the more out of the water the better.
Of course this is only valid if the speedo is reliable. I have calibrated it against other boats and it seems to be on.
Regards. Boatman

Speedster 15 GPS

I just GPS'd my new Speedster 15 (215)last week on a fresh water lake with smooth water. The GPS max'd at 56.0 mph (with variation down to ~55.3). The speedometer said 52-53 mph.
Thanks,
Jim

I have a 3005 Sportster 150 with 215HP took it out last weekend with wife, buddy and his son. 560 lbs of people + Full tank of gas, ski's, knee board and a case of Beer :-) . Oh yeah and one GPS unit.. After arranging the sitting positions I hit 53 MPH on 6-8 inch chop, the speedo indicated 65, so I tapped on it and it indicated 32. LOL... The factory speedo is about as accurate as a bicycle speedo operated off of the spokes...
