Quick Question, my new plugs are arriving tmw so I want to make sure I can get them in before boating day(Sunday)

I tried 5/8,13,14,15,16,17,18 mm deep sockets and nothing grabs it?

I'm thinking I may have to put the socket extension in the lathe and drill a recess into the end so the tip can go deeper into the socket and the HEX finally grab??

Anyone know offhand what size socket fits the 4tec NGK specified sparkplugs?

Thx!

These are what I use. Standard spark plug tools same size for vehicles. I think 5/8th. I bough mine at autozone. Most have a magnet or rubber seal that helps grab the plug.

OK 5/8=15mm, I just gotta get one deep enough-Thx!

No 5/8=15mm. You need a 3/8 in. Drive 5/8 in. Sparkplug Socket. It is a special tool made specifically to remove and install spark plugs. Also, you need a 6 in extension.

OK Ive got the NGK plug in hand and I was at PEPBOYS they sell deep sockets that are deeper than craftsman, so I bought the socket that matched the plug.

THE PLUGS TAKE A 16MM SOCKET 5/8, 15mm is too small.

Now heres the wierd thing ...my Starbord engine had Autolight plugs in it and they fit into a 17mm depp socket?? WTF.....had to spin the last 1/2" down on a 17mm socket so it would drop into the plug pocket...

All NGK factory spec plugs went back in.

Gotta say that the ECU really runs these lean! frosty white!

And 15mm is close enough to 5/8 for Govt work..they are interchangeable on the wrench end. as well as 1/2"=13 mm and 5/16=8mm and 7/16=11mm

grew up with Eurobikes and you figure that out early on.
