The closed looped cooling system is for the engine cooling. The exhaust system is still cooled from the outside source. That's why you need to flush it for a few seconds, after running in salt water.

QUESTION:: After i run the ski in salt water....and connect the flush kit, and then turn on the water and then finally turn on the engine...how long can i run the engine with the flush kit connected safely so i dont damage/ overhead the exhaust system and/or engine?

Important to follow procedure:

1. Connect Hose (DO NOT TURN ON YET)
2. Start Ski
3. Turn Tap on now
4. Run for upto 3 mins - Approx 3,000rpms
5. Turn off Tap
6. A few bursts at approx 4,000rpm to clear out exceess water
7. Stop Engine Now
8. Remove hose from flush kit.

If you turn hose on before starting engine you risk backfilling cylinders with water, which leads to bad engine damage
