I have this 07 155 horse speedster 4-tec and there is a bunch of oil in the bottom of the hull. any ideas where it could be coming from? the engine runs and has oil in it and has good compression on all 3 cylinders. I was thinking maybe the place that winterized it might have filled it too much and it is seeping out somewhere. any suggestions would be appreciated

thanks

On the pto there is a rubber boot with a bearing that the driveshaft goes throug, the oil could be coming from there or there is also a seal on the crank where the driveshaft slid into the crank. Oil could be coming from thoughs two places so check for signs of oil leakage there.

thats where im thinking normaly comes out quicker when the engine is running but i would not advise puting your hand down near the shaft when its running

aha correct dont put your hands down there with it running. just lift the flap on the boot and look for any signs of oil, it should be clean and oil free aound there.

I changed the oil and got all of the oil out of the bottom of the hull. ran it on the hose for a while and there was no leak. the oil level was perfect. took it to the lake and for about 20 minutes of moderate driving the oil level was still perfect. then I started hauling a#$ for a few minutes and open the back and there was tons of oil in the bottom and the oil level was low. I put more oil in and it was about a quart low to get it back up. I had my buddy drive while I looked and I cannot see any leak. took it back to the shop ran it on the hose for awhile and still no leak and the oil level is still good?????????? Any ideas? I looked all place you guy mention and everywhere i could see with a mirror, etc, etc

when you ran full throttle was it rough or calm condisions?
was the dipstick secure?

same issue

I have the same problem. Ever since changing my oil last year, I keep leaking oil. I re-checked my oil filter and even replaced the 3 gaskets and put the newer metal oil-filter cap on my ski. any other thoughts where this thing could be leaking oil?

Or, did you figure out where yours was coming from?
