Im looking at the 2010 210 challenger with the 310 or 430 hp option and wondered if in real world use if the extar power is needed Im not looking for high speeds, Im more interested in making sure that i can pull a 250-300lb guy skiing. Also concerned if i have 2 or 3 big guys in the boat with a couple of kids and/or woman is the 310hp version going to be under powered. I have been in underpowered boats before where we had to get people off the boat to get skiers up. In other words can i get 5-6 people in the boat and still pull a big guy skiing in the 310 hp version or will i need the 430hp?

Any practical experience on this would be greatly appreciated. The 430hp version is $3,900 more so I would prefer the 310 hp version. Also concerned about the $850 every 100 hours to fix the superchargers.

thanks

08 s 200

I have the S200 and it has the twin 215's. I've been on an 09 Challenger as that is what I was looking for when I landed a deal on current boat that was new at the time. The out of the hole power is very noticable and given what you want to do might make sense. Top end is useless and just a number IMO.

That being said I "raced" the 310 and still think there is enough there to keep in their seats and get whatever is behind you up in the water. These boats flat out rock and you won't be disappointed with the decision you make.

I would consider the 430hp

I have the speedster 200 with the 310hp. It weighes 2700#. I would not want any less power. If your new boat weighes more than 2700# I think you would be better off with the extra power. If I was to do it again I would go for more power. With a full tank of gas and 5-6 people in the boat and trying to pull up a big adult is not easy for my boat.

I also just bought a S200 with the 310HP and find it has plenty of power. Had 4 adults and 5 kids and had absolutely no problems getting on plane!! I think you would be just fine with the 310HP, if worst case you could upgrade your impellers for a better holeshot.

Also, someone told me that the 430HP are pigs on fuel..and with the rising costs that is also something to consider..!!

That is a heavy boat

The boat you are looking at is 3,100 #'s. That is a heavy boat. It is rated for 10 people. If you ever fill up the gas tank and put 10 people on that boat I feel you will be under powered. I still think you would be better off with the 430 hp.

Keep us posted with the speed & gas consumption. I'm very tempted to up grade my c180 to a w210. Just for a bit more space.
cheers

430

I just bought the 08 230 w/430s. You need them on the 230. Period. The 2011s will have a mode that saves somewhere between 20-30% in fuel when cruising. Also it's more reasonable that the earlier models.

I have a 2010 210 Challenger 430hp SE. I believe as above that with the heavier boat having the 430HP gets me about 50 mph when it's working right. Too bad it's been at the dealer for multiple issues than I've had it on the water since purchasing in August 2010.

I bought a 06 Challenger 180 CS that has the 215 SCIC. I replaced the ceramic washers in 2008 and this year it need to have the supercharger completely replaced. I'll let you know how it goes with that. The supercharged versions seem to have issues. The core engine seems to be decent. If I was upgrading today, I would probably get the non SCIC version with the issues that I've had. Also, the supercharged engines are a pig on fuel. Also, there is a speed limit of 45 MPH on our lake so the extra power would go (mostly ;) ) unused.

Hey bud , i have the 430hp in a speedster and struggle with four in boat and one sking. In a 210 I would get the 430hp.The superchargers is what makes seadoo superior in power than other boats.More power more hastle.Treat yourself.
