Been a while since I've been on here....the boat has been running perfectly till last weekend and I'd appreciate any opinions or direction I could take to diagnose my issue.
2002 Seadoo Challenger 2000 -250 Optimax
Over the weekend I was at an idle speed and noticed a tiny metallic pinging from the engine compartment, didn't give it much thought at the time. Few minutes later we came to the end of the no wake zone and I throttled up for a minute or so to the next no wake zone. As I came back to idle, the engine compartment was noticeably louder, like the exhaust had somehow fallen off. I gave it just a bit of throttle and it started to chug and sputter. Below is what I've done so far:
1) Checked the impeller for blockage - Clear.
2) Looked around the block to see if I had a blow out - Nothing visible
3) Compression check - 50-60 PSI on all 6 cylinders....I have a cheap China compression tester so I can't verify the accuracy but they were all in the same range which seems low based on what I've read on here.
I'd expected to hear a bunch of noise from at least one of the cylinders expecting that I had fried a piston...but they were all quite.
Any ideas what I should check nest? The pinging and then the louder engine compartment is what I'm hung up on....I have no idea where to go next.
