Hi,
I've been wanting to get into boating for a long time and have the opportunity now to do so. The chance of getting my hands on a 2004 Utopia 205 with a 240hp Mercury M2 has come up and i'd really like to do the deal.
However, the boat was imported into the UK at some point and it now has no paperwork to prove that the VAT (tax) was paid or the retofits made and certificated to allow it to be a EU boat.. (CE marking)
There are a couple of questions i'd like to try and find out and these are.
1. Do any of you know how for certain if the engine fitted would be BARB 3star compliant, are all M2's compliant or only after a certain year?
2. On the off chance does anybody remember owning this boat at some time and have any knowledge of it?
Apparantly it was purchased from Rick Carter Auto Marine in Texas. And the marking plate shows. [US-]CEC16576K304
I can get the CE marking done but only if the engine's emissions are good.
These questions may seem naive and if they do I apologise. But like I say I am new to this.
Many thanks,
Glenn
