I'm tearing everything down on my 240, to put on the new engine from Crowley. Well it didn't come with a oil pump driven shaft. You have to remove the oil pump shaft from the blown engine and install it on the new one. The service manual doesn't tell you how to get it out and I have no clue. I've tried to split the case but the shaft has got it in a bind. I know the bushing has to come out to get the shaft out. But how do you remove it?

It should just pull out... (from the pump mount hole) but if it got bent somehow... who knows.

With that said... if the bushing surface is warn... it could have a lip. I would use some long nose pliers, and give it a yank. If the case is split... just push... it will go.

Needless to say... you will need to REALY inspect it, and probably replace it. That's one part that you don't want to take a chance with. If it binds in the new engine... it will rip out the plastic gear, and that means no oil .

I got it out. I put a big screwdriver under the case and put my foot on it pushing while tapping the shaft down with another screwdriver. The shaft is in great shape but i'll need a new bushing. I busted it while tapping it out of the with a punch.
