wow, well we were about this [----] close to buying a new 430hp 2008 230 wake yesterday.

We found a dealer that is giving an almost "too good to believe" price (16,000 off MSRP) and loved all the features the boat came with.

But yeah we thought we'd do some research before we dropped the bills and so I find myself here.

Other boats we're looking at are the Yamaha High Output and a few Crownline boats (we'd add a tower and what not to it)

but so far we loved the overall aesthetics and features of the SeaDoo the most (it comes very well suited to our [my] needs)

After your experience, would you say the boat is worth it? are you happy with it? Should we buy it? (dealer only has 2 left so we gotta act fast)

Which dealer are you working with?

Welcome to the seadoo forum FloorStreet. Both of the competitors boats don't even size up to the quality of seadoo...

Fress Up

I wonder if there is a quality difference between Speedster type Sea Doos and the Challeger-based line of boats, for which they bought boat manufacturer a few years back ?

really? i thought crownline was supposed to be one of the better boats in the business...?

but yeah I like sea doo alot, deffinitly more than yam's high output.

seems like you guys have a nice internet community on here which I would enjoy participating in when/if we get the boat.

as for now, I'm just wondering if the 230 wake is a reliable boat, and this thread is makin me a bit on the worried side.

230 Wake?......

You won't be disappointed. The only disappointment may be if the dealer jerks you around. The boat is jus that. A wake boarding boat. This thing is awesome.

This thing is available with the 510 or 430 hp power package with a capacity of 12 people: Equipped with the PerfectPass Wakeboard Pro 1,000 lbs (454 kg), WakeBoost system Satellite-ready AM/FM/CD stereo with 10 speakers (4 on tower/6 in boat) with MP3 port Heater Wakeboard tower with board racks and all with an MSRP of $51,999.

This baby will cut on a dime. I don't know why you'd be worried. If I had $52K, I know I'd be the first one in line for one!.........

Did this thread move somehow? I posted my reply on another thread and now the original question isn't there. Anyway. Here's my responce.

Just remember, when a person has a problem they very often find sites like this to voice frustration, get advice, look for solutions. When a person has no problems with the product often times they just use it and never consider searching out and posting to a site.

Another way of looking at it is how many (or in this case how few) negative threads you've read about the boat? I bet its very few. That should tell you that most owners are too busy out enjoying the boat rather than being stuck in service (and hence on here).

One thing I would do is research the dealership where you are going to have the boat serviced. That is as imprortant as anything. Also, maybe go back to service and feel them out. Talk to the serivce manager about the problems they see etc.

Make sure they take you out on a test drive and teach you the ins and outs of the boat. Jet boats are a little bit of a different beast and its nice to have someone that's experianced show you the little things. Additionally, gives you the opp. to make sure the boats running right.

Good luck. That sounds like an awesome deal for a new boat. There are incredible deals to be made out there right now.

Oh ya, last thing. Get an extended warranty. Pretend like you don't want it then widdle them down. They will come down 40% or more from their first offer. Its great piece of mind. I have 4 years coverage on my boat for $900 (and that's not the best deal I've seen).

not sure about the build quality on a 230 wake but my Doral 230cc build quality is far better then my seadoo could ever hope for. In MY opinion if your looking for 23ft boat go with a prop boat. My doral eats my sportster 150up and spits it out, faster out of the hole and in top speed and i can sleep in it and it also has a fridge, stove, sink and *hitter. also what year crownline you looking at?

I don't think your sportster is even in the same class as the wake...That's like comparing a bicycle to a sports car....or the I'O prop drive.

I think Crownline is a good quality I/O...but I'll never buy another I/O. Jet Boats for me. That's just my personal opinion.

i know there not in the same class i compared performance on the two and not even close. ive had the doral up to 60mph with it trimmed all the way down, prop has a couple mor mph in it. in my opinon prop boats are way more bang for the buck but depends what you want to do with your boat aswell:cheers:

we were looking at a new 23' foot crownline complete with sink and bathroom...

I'm still pretty interested in the 230 wake though and yeah I deffinitly haven't seen very many complaints about it and so far haven't found a better price

We're looking for a family boat that is comfortable for our 4 person family yet able to hold a lot of friends to come wakesurf/wakeboard all day; so from that perspective the 230Wake seems like a pretty sweet deal with all the extra standard features its got.

But I've also heard the wake coming out of a jetboat versus a prop isn't too amazing, however the boat does have a 1000lb fillable ballast and its not like im trying to do 360 backflips off the wake anyway so I'm not too too concerned about that

I don't know, we'll go back and talk to the dealer this weekend and see what happens...we might pass it up and wait for either the new one with the 510 hp (the one we're considering has 430hp) or the Crownline

Yes, the thread was moved because it was a thread started on someone else thread, which was an older thread that was re-opened. I brought this one up to the front and opened it as it's own.......

I searched the crownline what model, the 230 ccr im guessing. looks like a really nice boat. If your lookin for a bow rider wakeboard boat then the 230 wake would be the best bang for the buck. My BIGGEST problem i have with seadoo is your pretty much stuck with taking it to a dealer if something goes wrong, and it can be hard finding a good dealer that you can trust. also remeber with two motors you will have twice the maintinace and seadoos 430 & 510hp take premium fuel as well. also im not sure how the 230 wake does in ruff water as far as ride confort goes but i know my 150 is a back breaker. Really your best bet is to go test drive both boats, but what ever you do stay away from bayliners ahaha we alway make fun of people who buy them on my lake LMAO...

Fuel consumption....?

I think fuel consumption alone would be enough to sell me. The Rotax engines use 30% less fuel than boats of equal weight and size.

You want to see this boat up close and personal, check out www.seadoo.com

An owner of a 230 wake

Let me start by saying my first days with this boat were not good ones, but I won't get into that you can look up the thread. But since then I can say that the performance of this boat (430hp) is great!!!!! It take off out of the hole like a rocket. I've only had it long enough to have about 14hrs on it but I can tell you that it will out perform you expectations it did mine. Now I came from a prop Baja and I can honestly say that it would take a _ _ _ _ of a boat and deal to get me back into a prop boat, you don't have to worry about hitting the prop the kids playing around it and when the you have your buds on a tube and you take the wheel back and forth quickly it will spray them.
I (we) have never wakeboarded before this boat (well tried once couldn't get up)but with the tower and the smoothness we have all got up and are learning guick from me 40 to my friends son 12. Speaking of my friend is 6'4" and 220 and he fit into the storage locker in the floor of the boat and closed it there is a ton of storage. the sound system works great.
The only thing that takes some getting use to 1 the way the boat handles at idle and the when you are tubing and you turn gick into a wave you can get everyone in the front soaked real quick but hey isn't that what is all about.
I looked at the Yamaha also but the performance wasn't there. About dealers I have one that is less than 25 miles away but when I called about getting a boat they did have one but said they would find on but never called back. So I drove over a 100 miles away to get mine and the dealer has bent over backwards for me, we i have a problem with the boat he sent a drive to come pick it up and brought it back. But like other have said test drive it look over the boat for anything thats wrong.

sorry so long
:hurray:

Wow TVZ. For someone who hated that boat at first you sure fell in love quickly once it started running right!! Congrats on the boat finally performing the way you wished it did in the beginning.

Lets see... make sure all the hoses are clamped good... Somebody around here got a new one, and there were some loose hose clamps on the cooling lines.
Other than that, congratulations! If you get around to it, post a few pics. (We all like pics!)

Nate

Yes for sure check out TVZ's other post about what was wrong with his when delivered and check all those issues before putting it in the water. Better to be safe than sorry like he was. Now he is in love with the boat by his last comments!!

Congrats on your new purchase.
