We currently have a 2010 210 Challenger with 430hp but have an opportunity to buy a 2012 230 520hp same equipment/options we currently have and same hours. We have talked about a lager boat as we are finding the 210 is a tad small for our needs.

The only complaint we have is the throttle controls on the 210, they work very well but there is no true neutral of course we have learned how to use the throttle but it sure would be nice to have a true locked neutral, yes I understand the boat will spin in its own length but no forward movement would be awesome. Does the 230's dual throttle/bucket levers allow for starting the boat in a true neutral position?

Anyone driven both a 210 and 230 any thoughts on handling differences if any? Other thoughts on the boats themselves, seating arrangements. We love the tansatseats and would miss them! Is there any wet storage in the 230 similar to the swim platform of the 210? Any input would be welcome!

There is no true neutral on any of the BRP jet drives. There is no transmission at all. So, no change there.

If your 210 is moving forward in neutral, you can adjust the reverse buckets to throw a little more water forward.

As for the 2-foot-itis, I get that itch ever so often, too.

We will see what happens, the wife listed ours over priced so nothing will happen and that's probably best. We could carry ours over the winter for a better price. Ideally we want a newer brp powered boat in a year or two, Chaparral or Scarab. You can always dream....

i had the chance to drive both a 2010 210 430hp wake and a 2009 230 wake 510hp (which i bought) . to be honest i didn't like the single throttle/shift control on the 2010 210 boat, i never really knew when the shift ended and the throttle began (im sure i could have got used to it) i personally like the duel shift and throttle levers, i find it makes slow speed around the dock/trailer maneuvering easier. as for the true "neutral" i don't really even have that, my boat creeps a little bit its just something i've got used to. i only wish i had more control to be honest, individual engine and bucket control (maybe im just picky lol)as for wet storage my boat had over engine wet storage but its not very large ski locker up the middle and under bench storage up front is huge again i have a wake model so wake tower with board racks so the back wet storage is really only for ropes and jackets. either way im willing to bet you'll really like the 2012 230 boat, way more room for the family. if you wait i did see the chaparral had a dash "trim" switch to get true neutral on the buckets. hope this helps

Cheers
Chris

I'm going to chime in here with an uneducated opinion. I didn't even know they made these with throttle and shifter in one so take this at face value. I cannot imagine not having them separated. I think it's way better to have to explicitly put it in gear and then separately adjust the throttle. That would definitely be a factor for me

Again, no gears. On the 210, the first 45 degrees of the lever are the bucket up/down, the second 45 degrees is for throttle. It did take some getting used to, by even in my Sportster 1800, I didn't have an occasion to use 1/2 throttle w/ the bucket 1/2 up. After 3 years with the 210, I can't imagine having to mess with two levers.
