215 or 255?

So when I bought my boat there were no stickers on it. The dealer I got it from was dumb and scummy (mainly because he lied to me and a friend for sales). Once I found out for him that the boat was SC he stated it was the 215. However like I said no stickers were on it and when I ran a boat history it doesn't tell you what HP model it is.

Carboncow recommended I post a pic to see if y'all know.

here is my insides...can y'all tell from that or is there something specific you need a pic of? I know it's kinda dirty. Winter wasn't kind.

It is my understanding the 255s have the external intercooler, but that doesn't mean it wasn't added at a later date.

I do not know of a way to simply look at the engine and determine if it is a 215 or 255.

The differences are, external intercooler, larger injectors, larger wheel on the SC and I believe the tunnel under the ski is different. Oh, the mapping (tune) is different as well. None of these can easily be looked at and determine a difference with the one exception that the 255 has an external intercooler, (As mentioned above, assuming it was not added).

+1........

Do you agree?

This is a crazy surprise because I had just assumed mine was a 215hp. Either way I am still satisfied but if it is a 255hp do I need to be aware of anything else? Like I'm assuming it runs harder so it can probably break harder? lol

100% 255. Nobody would add an oem external intercooler to the 215, they would add aftermarket if anything...

I had ran a boat history report that used the vin but it didn't give what model beyond the Challenger 180 SE. I can check for others.

Yes I do agree. The 255 doesn't require and more maintenance than a 215, but make sure that the intercooler isn't leaking water into your engine as this is a known issue. Supercharger rebuilds every 100 hrs or 2 years.

Do the newer ones like the 215 go to the 200hr or just 100hr?

Any that have been rebuilt with the updated shaft will fall into the 200 hr/2 year schedule.

I don't recall the year, but somewhere around 2014 ish is when Seadoo changed the numbers to the 200 hr figure.

Maybe brp guy got more info than us, but according to parts diagrams, 2010 is the only model year being an SE would make it a 255. All other years 09-12 show both 215 or 255/260 available in SE trim. Regardless, definitely 255 motor based on intercooler.
