i currently have/had a 2010 sea doo challenger 180. I dropped it off at the dealer ship on thursday and dealer calls me today. My boat got smashed yesterday by there delivery truck. So the boat is gone. I work for State Farm and i insure the dealer so i have a general idea of what i will get back for the boat. Which really sucks because these boats take such a big hit the 1st year they are take off the lot. SO the dealer is offering to give me every penny i paid for the 180 (26k) as a trade in credit on a 2010 challenger he wants to get off his floor. I believe the 210 is low 30's. or low 40's depending which one i choose. He has 1 420/430 whtever the 400+hp one is and 1 310. I was perfectly fine with the horse power in the 180 but i'm wondering if i up grade will the 310 be to little HP for the boat. All we use ours for is to tube. I have a 9 year old and a 3 year old so nothing serious now. We have tried the wake boarding but my older son doesn't really care for it simply because he does it by him self where the tube it's usuallly him and his brother or a friend of mom. you get the point.. Also do the super chargers have to get rebuilt @ 100's? and does this boat take the premium gas grade like my 180? Any thoughts insight would be great... Thanks fells...

How about you tell the dealer to go find you a replacement for the $26k check you will be getting. Surely, they have contacts in the industry.... As a side note, I would also tell you that you might want to look for a lightly used Speedster 200 with twin 155's. I was considering a 180, and was undewhelmed by the power. I found a 2008 Speedster 200 with 27 hours on it & an extended warranty from a private seller for $21k last fall. Better usable sunpad & storage, more power, and no supercharger hassles. Just sayin......

I cant offer much help other than say damn that sucks your boat got bashed. I think the challenger 210 with 430HP would be the perfect boat really. The only real issue with the superchargers on the new boats is the fact they will need a rebuild at some time. No big deal to me really, if it is at 100 hours, you plan for it. That would be about every 4 or 5 years for me.

Wow..that totally sucks...but to be honest, I agree with speedster32940....because of his neglect you will be out of pocket a few thousand??? that's ridiculous!!

I'd take the 210 with the 310 hp. I have that same boat in the Utopia and it pulls tube just fine. You don't have to deal with premium fuel, supercharger rebuild, etc.

I don't really agree with that. It is a very unfortunate situation, but he is paying 100% of what was spent on the boat. Yeah you might be out of pocket if you upgrade to a newer or bigger boat. However, if you find another 2009 or 2010 Challenger 180, you may actually end up with money in your pocket.

i'll keep you guys posted on what happens.. I wouldn't mind taking another 2010 or 2011 180 challenger and a little money in my pocket. I also wouldn't mind upgrading butr i honestly like the bigger yamahas if i upgrade. I want to upgrade to a 24" not 21. I also don't want to file a claim on my personal insurance because them all my fire policies will be effected with a claim.. my home, boat, 4wheeler ect. I am sure of this i am a state farm agent. If we file a claim his insurance company will pay the value of the boat today. Which is 15-16k. These boats lose value fast!

210 430hp runs about 50mph top speed. If you don't really want to step into a bigger/heavier boat, I'd stick with the 180. Besides, 2010 210's in my humble opinion have too many problems with the new technology on the boat, electronic engine sync, etc. I have a 2010 210 430hp purchased in August and have had multiple problems on the boat. From mechanical, cosmetic and poor fiberglass manufacturing defects. Definitely one of those occasions to not purchase 1'st redesign year of product, assuming they build a better boat in 2011. Good luck.

Don't get a speedster like one of the posters recommended- who wants all that wind. Gotta have a windshield...
