Just bought a new to me 2018 gti 155. When I checking the top speed and rpm I was not pleased. Top speed with just me 180lb 1/2 fuel was 44 and RPMs were 7500. Idle was 1800.

Acceleration seamed OK but something must be wrong. Also the bow hunts a bit and it seams to lean somewhat to the left. Not sure how well the trim works but did not notice much between up and down trim.

Has only 24 hrs.

Any help would be welcomed.

Thanks

Your RPMS are about right but your about 10mph slow which points toward driveline. Wear ring, impeller, or carbon seal are usually the culprits.

Yes, you are probably missing a good 10 mph on your top speed, but seems like you are getting the right engine rpms at both idle and wide open throttle. Unfortunately you are probably going to have to investigate excessive wear of the wear ring. And check to make sure there isn’t obvious wear or damage to your impeller.
As for the bow being a bit squirmy, I don’t know what to tell you on that. It should be pretty stable… and shouldn’t lean obviously to one side. Your trim isn’t overly obvious differences from up to down, but trim adjustment it is noticeable to me on my new 2021 GTI SE 170. It does make me think that all combined, there might be something not quite right with your jet pump or VTS. Might also be related to your speed issue… sorry I can’t be of more assistance with what is wrong, other than confirming that I think you do have jet pump and VTS concerns to address.
